Just thought I’d point you to a really cool model railroading setup by my friend and band (we’re still working on a name – though not everyone has bought into “Cryptic Chicken”) lead-guitarist Mike Hamer. Mike’s Boston and Maine model railroad has been featured as the cover shot of a number model railroading magazines, and people from afar look up Mike to come see it when they’re in town. And Mike is always ready to cheerfully show it off and let you drive the trains. He showed it to our Scouts this past year, who of course loved it.
Mike is a primary school teacher (Grade 3) and it all started years ago as a class project. Mike got immersed in it and never looked back. And he almost always avoids buying stock props from hobby stores – he has used his ingenuity to turn ordinary household materials into a magical New England landscape.
For those that appreciate art imitating life (or just like playing with trains), this is a must-see on your next trip to Ottawa.
Cheers

i checked out his site and was amazed at the detail. My father inlaw is a railroad buff, but just has track, no scenery at all. He brags that his railroad has over 700 switches, and I believe it as it’s on many different levels and covers the entire basement. If I was a railroad buff, I’d want to be like Gomez Addams and blow the thing up.
